Motivation for 2017

I can’t believe we’re already a week into the New Year and I suspect the rest of 2017 will fly by as quickly. So all the more reason to get organised and decide what takes priority work-wise over the next few months. I’m still trying to decide on my plan of action in readiness for tomorrow's writing session, but first I think we all probably need a little motivation to get started and keep going.

Amongst the various newsletters and videos I watch now and then, a few usually stand out and offer such wisdom and motivation that they are worth sharing. Here a few of my recent favourites.

Laura Vanderkam: Find the Time for What Matters - absolutely worth watching for an excellent approach to using our time wisely.

Joanna Penn: Planning for 2017 - my favourite writing guru and this Pdf contains very helpful advice.

Writers Helping Writers:  a fantastic blog with endless resources for all aspects of writing.

All the very best for all you hope to achieve this year!

I like the 'Dream Big' image. You gave me a lovely artistic picture with those words that I used to have sitting on my desk and I often glanced at it from time to time which kept me motivated to keep going with any writing I was working on! It's a good quote to start off the year with, and I'm resurrecting my blog from today to keep me motivated to keep going with my creative goals. Wishing you lots of success in 2017!

The first week of a new year always seems difficult, probably because so many people/places are not back into a normal routine, Rosemary.

I like Writers Helping Writers too.:-)

Thanks for the motivating links. Perhaps you could remind us again in a few weeks' time when the New-Year enthusiasm has waned!

I love the beginning of a new year, Carol, once I get past the overload of chocolate consumption!

You have a good point, Julia!

Thank you, Joanna - looking forward to yours too!

Thanks, Teresa - you too!

Happy new year, Rosemary. Joanna Penn is my motivating Guru too :) I actually watched her podcast for planning 2017 and then sat down and planned most of my writing year :) Wishing you continued success throughout the year. Best wishes to Victoria too :)

Wonderful links, Rosemary - thanks. I particularly like the WritersHelpingWriters one - read more fiction. The dream resolution! I love listening to Joanna Penn's Podcasts, usually when I'm driving or making dinner, but have never looked properly at her website and blog. Will now though! Thanks again for sharing and good luck with your 2017 goals and dreams. : )

A bit of forward planning and a reminder of what we're aiming for can do a lot to help us use our time well, I think.

My future husband (getting married this year!) has told me I need to focus! So I am focusing on a novel and a short story at the moment. And yes, this year will fly by. Soon be Christmas!

Rosemary Gemmell said...

Absolutely, Patsy!

Hi Ingrid - congrats on getting married! Al the best with your novel and story.
