Much of the information was covered on my writing course many years ago but it was useful to refresh my memory as I haven't written any fiction for a long time. It's a handy book but some of the techniques are a bit formulaic such as the Eight Point Arc. However, it's useful for checking your work afterwards to see whether it includes all the recommended aspects. The Dorothea Brande book sounds interesting-will have to look that one up and the other two you mention. I prefer print with these kinds of books too. But I can never tell how much of the advice I'm actually absorbing, even though it makes such good sense at the time I read it. I tend to drift away after a few chapters, having started out with a highlighter pen and high hopes, determined to memorise all the salient points. I will definitely re-read the Stephen King though, since it is so entertaining as well as informative.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10346863303904973315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-42456159761935565972014-04-02T00:37:54.766-07:002014-04-02T00:37:54.766-07:00I haven't read that one, Julia - thanks!I haven't read that one, Julia - thanks!Rosemary Gemmellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09311840205603508422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-23486895568968767992014-04-01T09:23:18.506-07:002014-04-01T09:23:18.506-07:00I really like 'Bird By Bird' by Anne Lamot...I really like 'Bird By Bird' by Anne Lamott.Julia Thorleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00485301135194085398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-36023850347483745362014-04-01T01:56:48.339-07:002014-04-01T01:56:48.339-07:00I'm not surprised, Teresa!
