The smaller CD ones can only be a pale reflection of the originals.
Just re-reading for the fifth or sixth time, Blackberry Wine by Joanne Harris, which includes some atmospheric songs from the 1970s, not on vinyl, of course, but on a transistor radio!Jean Bullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04805479454940218153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-4826588662754899212017-04-11T05:07:38.688-07:002017-04-11T05:07:38.688-07:00Love hearing about everyone's music and record...Love hearing about everyone's music and record memories!

Lovely to hear about your own music nostalgia, Helen - thanks for that! Glad you liked G o'S too.

Wow - that's brilliant, Julia, especially when you can actually play them! Yes, the cover art is a good point.

Thanks for sharing those lovely memories, Joanna. Now that single (LGWMRG) certainly makes me recall a particular party where one of the boys kept asking for it to be played in my honour!Rosemary Gemmellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09311840205603508422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-53609733568676117872017-04-11T03:14:06.456-07:002017-04-11T03:14:06.456-07:00How fantastic to rediscover these, Rosemary. I could never detect any improvement in sound quality even though my husband insisted they were better! The first single I bought was Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes and I nearly wore it out! My first album was The Sound of Music and I played it every day - a cheaper version than the film soundtrack - and sang along until my mother begged me to stop! xxxJoannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10346863303904973315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5278356786329973174.post-53984617539209880842017-04-10T12:20:32.418-07:002017-04-10T12:20:32.418-07:00We've got about 500 vinyl LPs and a turntable ...We've got about 500 vinyl LPs and a turntable to play them on, too. I would never part with them, but I have converted quite a few to mp3s to play in the car. What I miss with CDs and downloads is the cover art and the sleeve notes. Gilbert O' Sullivan was the first LP I bought for myself! 'My Ding-a-Ling' by Chuck Berry was the first 45 bought for me (I was FAR too young to understand the double-entendres!) and the first 45 I bought for myself was The Bump by Kenny, with a 50p WH Smith voucher I'd been given :)

Wishing you happy times listening to all your oldies when you get the facility to play them xHelen Pollardhttp://helenpollardwrites.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
