This is the latest comment from a lovely reader about Return to Kilcraig, and she has already reviewed The Highland Lass and Summer of the Eagles as she loves books set in Scotland:

How lovely to have such a fabulous review, Rosemary. I set my stories in all sorts of places (funnily, none in the area where I live). My favourite thing is to write a magazine story as soon as a get back from a holiday. I'm happy to say, they've all been published. I think I need to go on a few more!

Thanks, Joanna, and for the lovely comment on Helen's blog! I know what you mean - soemtimes it's just a spark of inspiration we need then it becomes a completely unique place. I often just use impressions or minor details in other stories.

I have used my local area (Portsmouth/Southampton) as the setting for two novels so far.

When you have such wonderful places to choose from, then using them in your writing is ideal.
Good reviews make the hard work feel worthwhile don't they.
I've set many of my stories - including my NaNo novel - in my home ground of Exmoor which is as beautiful as your part of the world, just not quite so big!

Glad you've had great reviews, which isn't surprising. I plan to read Highland Lass as my Christmas Treat. So far, Redington in Norfolk is my favourite place as a setting. And I've done one in Warwickshire. I plan to do more in Devon and Wales as we go there a lot and I love the scenery. Glad you're doing more Scotland based ones, they're lovely. xx
