For Auld Lang Syne

I hope everyone received whatever they wished for over Christmas. I was delighted with all the generous gifts from family and friends and some have already provided inspiration for the coming months.

What a shame the weather has spoiled the pleasure of the season for some people. Our village was cut off by floods yesterday but it was still nothing compared to some parts of Scotland and the north of England. We live at the top of the hill so our home was safe – at least while the gales don’t get too high. Hopefully, the New Year will bring calmer climes.

Thank you for your online friendship over the past year and I look forward to the next. I have a couple of imminent deadlines coming up so I need to get back to work by the beginning of next week, if I can get into gear again.

Happy Hogmanay and I wish you all a safe, healthy and successful New Year!

And there's a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.

(last verse of Auld Lang Syne)

Happy Hogmanay and New Year

Wishing all my lovely friends and followers a Happy Hogmanay and much health, happiness and success in 2013. If anyone would like to read about Scottish Hogmanay Traditions, I've put a little piece over on the Romancing History blog.

Thank you very much for being so supportive and encouraging over the year and I look forward to many more interactions in the coming year.

I'll leave you a verse and chorus of Auld Lang Syne from our famous bard, Robert Burns.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Happy New Year,
Rosemary
